Six fields that hold each other up — from the night sky down to a few millimetres.

Nearly all of it is made between the Hohe Tauern and the Dolomites, most often before sunrise or long after dark.

Each gallery carries its own introduction. How the pictures come about differs more from one field to the next than the results let on.

Aerial A drone doesn’t make a better photograph. It makes possible a vantage point nobody walks up to.

Wildlife Nothing out here owes me a photograph. Most days I come home with cold hands and nothing else.

Landscape Most of these were made in the half hour when the light is still deciding what kind of day it will be.

Macro A square metre of alpine meadow holds more than a whole valley does, if you get close enough.

Astro & Night Two kinds of night: the sky over the Tauern, which turns on its own, and a city where only the lights are moving. Both live on long exposures and on staying awake.

Portrait In the end it is the same approach as with the animals: wait, stay quiet, and let the face arrive on its own.
