Aerial

A drone doesn’t make a better photograph. It makes possible a vantage point nobody walks up to.

Aerial work from the Eastern Alps, flown with a DJI Mavic 3 Pro: the Schwarze Wand above the icefall, the tongue of the Schlatenkees, a pond turning colour in autumn woodland, sunset threading between the Dolomite towers. The film above is Stift Klosterneuburg at sunrise.

This is where it started, in 2022, and it still decides how I see the rest. From up there a forest is a pattern and a river is a line, and the relationship between a ridge and the light on it becomes obvious in a way it never is from the ground.
